Before diets, before body mass index charts and before an ever-present threat of an obesity crisis, people who wanted to lose weight turned to nature for inspiration. Over the years, a number of natural supplements and plants have been used to aid weight loss, often working in a variety of different ways. Some help suppress the appetite, while others help bolster the metabolism and aid digestion. The question soon becomes, which of these natural products actually help, and which are as effective as eating grass?
Green tea has long been associated with weight loss. The claims include both naturally increase the metabolism as well as acting as an appetite suppressor. Many people over the years have claimed that green tea is in fact the best of all the natural aids for weight loss, and for sheer volume of converts it is perhaps the first thing one should try.
The second worth-mentioning product are psyllium seeds. These are seeds derived from the husk of plantago plant seeds, and have long been seen as an effective appetite suppressant. Psyllium seeds work by swelling in the stomach when mixed with fluid, thus making one feel full almost constantly. They are naturally passed through the system and have no side effects, and many people using them to aid weight loss swear by them.
These are the two most popular, and arguably most accurate, natural supplements for aiding weight loss. Their continued presence in the weight loss market coupled with countless user testimonies mean they are definitely worth trying if standard dieting methods are not working, or as an extra help. Both are relatively cheap and easy to find; green tea is on the shelves of most supermarkets, and psyllium seeds can be found online and in natural food stores.
